Brinas Studio: Back Home

A textile painting pays tribute to a peaceful inner home, filled with trust, freedom of expression, and fluidity. A homage to the native home place.

Simple in form, deliberately untreated, and rich in shades of colors. The work is dyed outdoors, under the free sun in the direction of sun-water-earth. The warmth of the sun melted the plant pigments trapped in ice, which colored the fabric laid on the ground. The resulting patterns resemble those found in rocks, and the colors intertwine with the palette of them.

The work seeks balance between the involvement of the human hand, interventions in form, and allowing free rein to natural processes of melting. In dyeing, as in life itself, seeking the balance between control, approaching and letting go, and distancing.
